Erythrophobia - Fear of Blushing
Some people experience a severe fear of blushing. They often assume that when others see them blush, they wil be judged harshly and negatively in some way. Consequently people who blush can become very self-conscious and suffer from anticipatory anxiety with regards to their blushing. Unfortunately, anticipatory tension and performance anxiety only serve to focus attention on blushing more and amplify the symptoms.
Recommended Therapy for Blushing: - clinical Hypnosis.
Hypnosis can be used to work on both causes and symptoms of blushing: de-traumatise the original sensitising event (the first time one inadvertantly blushed and felt tense about it); to release associated memories of past experience of blushing, and direct the subconscious mind to redirect bloodflow. Usually 1-3 sessions are needed on average depending on the presence of other factors, such as work needed on self-esteem or self-trust.
