Dr Alexandra Mizara is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist. She specializes in the area of Psychodermatology and disfigurement. She uses CBT and Schema-focused therapy for people who are experiencing emotional problems such as depression, anxiety and panic disorder, phobias, habit disorders, self-esteem and interpersonal conflicts and relationship problems.
She practices both in the NHS and in the private sector. She is the Clinical Lead of the Psychodermatology Service, Royal Free Hospital, NHS, [a specialist counselling service set up for patients with skin disease] and works at Imperial College.
She sits as an expert in steering committees for skin conditions and gives specialist advice and lectures in the area of psychodermatology. She is currently involved in a research programme assessing psychological aspects and well-being in psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. She provides supervision and training.
