Motivation

People can feel unmotivated about any aspect of their lives - their work, their relationships, their health; their personal goals and aspirations in life.

Motivation is driven by our values, our desires to pursue something desirable or to avoid something we find very unappealing.  However, sometimes we experience competing values which confuse and dilute our motivation. For instance, we may desire to start our own business but we may also avoid the anxiety associated with uncertainty and not knowing what to do next. We become caught in a loop of approach and avoidance. We may desire to lose weight but also avoid the efforts we believe are associated with that goal.

Whatever the source of our conflicts therapy can help to clarify the issues present, reconcile competing goals and connect you back to your source of motivation.

Recommended therapy: depends on the nature of motivation required. Motivation in pursuing career goals is often best served by coaching, unless there are larger psychological obstacles in place, in which case more formal psychological counselling would be more suitable. Motivation for changing habits is best served by NLP and clinical hypnosis.
