Nightmares can be brought on for different reasons with the main problem being chronic or recurring nightmares. In this case, the subconscious mind is expressing a fear or concern about something which is metaphorically being acted out in dreams. In other words it's trying to tell us something, such as to get us to attend to a source of anxiety or injustice. Nightmares can also be brought upon by a traumatic experience, a shock, scare or embarrassment about a situation.
In such cases many people dread going to sleep and they develop a form of performance anxiety with regards to bedtime. The fear of the fear is added on.
In either case, nightmares can be treated by addressing both the root causes of generating the nightmares as well treating the symptoms. A simple traumatic based nightmare can usually be treated in one session with clinical hypnosis, whereas nightmares caused by more complex reasons will require more work and time to resolve.

".. My daughter Orla responded immediately and completely to the session with you. No more sleep deprivation, anxiety or late nights, it's really a miracle. It has made a huge difference to Orla, much better rested and better tempered as a result. The impact on the family as a whole has been very beneficial. I would have no hesitation in recommending you to anyone who needed hypnotherapy.."
